Sapling Writing Book

We are delighted to see children becoming more and more interested in Chinese characters. The Sapling Writing book builds on the key learning focus from Sapling Reading Level 1 and Level 2, such as stroke practice and reading stories to find words, while introducing more ways for children to observe Chinese characters and apply the words they have learnt.

 

Exercise:

1. “Stroke practice with fun and playful sentences" Practising the basic strokes while reading amusing sentences. Cut out the sentences and match them with the corresponding pictures.
2. “Finding components within characters” Identify character components by colour. For example, recognise that 日 appears inside 草, and find where the component appears within the character.
3. “Observing similarities between characters“ Discover patterns and shared components between related characters to strengthen character recognition.
4. “Reading stories to find words” Connect words from stories to the corresponding pictures to reinforce understanding.

Our exercise books are designed to:

• Help children understand the meaning of simple characters by combining them into words and sentences
• Use fun and humorous illustrations to make learning memorable and engaging
• Encourage children to observe and explore Chinese characters through a variety of interactive exercises

In addition, the exercise books are:

• Inkjet-printed and single-sided printed
• Written in traditional Chinese with Cantonese phonics (Jyutping) and English translations included
• A reward chart to encourage your children to practise more

The book (around 40-45 pages) is £29. We will use this book for 2 terms.
